The latest Intel driver for their highly criticised recent venture into the desktop GPU market shows that progress is continuing.
Using an Intel Arc A770 and an i9-13900K with the latest Windows 11 build of 22621.1555 and Intel's Arc driver version 31.0.101.4335, I measured the gaming performance of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive with default video settings and MSI Afterburner 4.6.5 together with Shadow of the Tomb Raider with DirectX12 and 'High' graphics preset and the in-built benchmark against the latest Ubuntu 22.04.2 with Linux kernel version 6.3.0 and Oibaf's Open Graphics Drivers including Mesa 23.2~git2304300600.775e42 and MangoHud version 0.6.9-1. For comparison I measured the equivalent gaming performance using an Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti and an i7-12700F with identical Windows and Ubuntu OS and software versions but with Nvidia's Game Ready Driver 521.38 on Windows without DLSS and Nvidia's driver version 525.116.03 on Ubuntu without XeSS:
