Intel have confirmed shipping in May with one vendor already taking pre-orders.
Interesting to note that the slated price is lower than the expected RRP so hopefully aggressive pricing will make this excellent device even more affordable.
I don't know who to ask. But I got this USB 3.1 hub with Gigabit Ethernet and power for my STK2MV64CC http://amzn.com/B00X0Q0YX4 I can't get the Gigabit Ethernet to work on my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS server. Kernel 4.4.0-22-generic (SMP)x86_64 if I do this:
modprobe r8153 modprobe: FATAL: Module r8153 not found in directory /lib/modules/4.4.0-22-generic
I know it's a r8153 because I open it up and can read that number on the chip inside the hub. After some time it will install a 8152 driver but it will not work right. I did find a driver download here: http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=13&PFid=56&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&SortByDesc=1 but it's just some file named "0004-r8152.53-2.06.0" but inside the file it does show "#define DRIVER_DESC "Realtek RTL8152/RTL8153 Based USB Ethernet Adapters" but I don't know how to install it.
I think you are the best to help with this. I am just using a USB 2.0 to 10/100 Ethernet on it now. Or I can use the WiFi on it too they both work.
I found out can un zip that file more the "0004-r8152.53-2.06.0" and then can run a make and make install but it don't fix any thing it stays the same. I guess it's for the 8152 that is a 10/100 and the 8153 that I have is a 10/100/1000 So I guess that's why it don't work.
Plug in a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2XB2C23326 in the USB-C hub and it seems like it's working good Ubuntu Server auto installed it.
Thought something was wrong with the USB-C hub so I bought another one and the 2nd one would not power up the STK2MV64CC ICS. If I pulled the USB 3.0 and plug it in as it booted some times it could boot but the other one USB-C has the power to boot the ISC up. So just have to chance it if you get one with good power out the USB-C cable on it.
Used some many USB-C hubs with Gigabit Ethernet and power. But none will do power out to the USB-C cable. I did not want to spend a lot but I just could not find one so I bought one that cost about $50 on Amazon here: http://a.co/2oKTIqh this one works super good Ubuntu auto sees the Gigabit Ethernet and it powers by the USB-C cable.
I have Plex server running on this and it works super good. Can play 1080 videos and can record videos. I tested it with 2 videos on the same time. 720p video over cable TV with HDHomeRun PRIME over Ethernet. Got Ubuntu 18.04 now. Updated it and it works very good.
Comment notification failed recently so I have a backlog of comments to read and reply to hence I've missed this entire thread. Anyway good to hear it is all working now.
